About Pemba Island

Pemba Island, known as "The Green Island," is the quieter, more authentic sister to Zanzibar. Covered in lush clove plantations and surrounded by some of the world's most pristine coral reefs, Pemba offers a genuine slice of island life away from mass tourism.

The island produces 70% of Tanzania's cloves, filling the air with their distinctive aroma. Traditional dhows still sail between villages, fishermen use ancient techniques, and Swahili culture thrives unchanged. For travelers seeking authenticity and tranquility, Pemba is a dream.

Pemba Wildlife Safari
Pemba Culinary Experience

Pemba's underwater world is legendary among divers. The Pemba Channel drops to depths of over 800 meters, creating unique upwelling conditions that support exceptional marine biodiversity. Dive sites like The Manta Point and Njao Gap are consistently rated among Africa's best.

Beyond diving, Pemba offers spice tours through fragrant plantations, visits to traditional fishing villages, kayaking through mangrove forests, and simply relaxing on empty beaches. It's Tanzania's best-kept secret for travelers seeking paradise without the crowds.

Pemba Island can be enjoyed year-round, though diving conditions vary by season.

June to October & January to February: Peak diving season with excellent visibility (20-40m). Calm seas and sunny weather. Ideal for all water activities. July-September can be slightly windy but still excellent.

November to March (Hot Season): Best visibility for diving, sometimes exceeding 40 meters. Very hot and humid. Occasional afternoon showers that quickly pass. Lower tourist numbers mean better deals.

April to May (Long Rains): Some resorts close. Reduced visibility for diving but still possible. Lush green landscapes. Significant discounts for adventurous travelers.
