About Serengeti
Serengeti National Park is one of Africa's most famous wildlife reserves, covering 14,763 square kilometers of pristine wilderness in northern Tanzania. The name "Serengeti" comes from the Maasai word "Siringet," meaning "endless plains" — a fitting description for this vast landscape.
The Serengeti is world-renowned for hosting the Great Migration, one of nature's most spectacular events. Each year, over 1.5 million wildebeest, accompanied by hundreds of thousands of zebras and gazelles, make a circular journey across the ecosystem in search of fresh grazing and water.

Beyond the migration, the Serengeti is home to an incredible diversity of wildlife, including lions, leopards, elephants, cheetahs, hyenas, and over 500 bird species. The park's diverse habitats — from grassland plains to riverine forests and rocky outcrops called kopjes — support this rich ecosystem year-round.
For deaf and hard-of-hearing travelers, the Serengeti offers a uniquely visual experience. The dramatic landscapes, abundant wildlife, and endless horizons create powerful visual memories that need no spoken words to be appreciated.

Best Time to Visit
June to October (Dry Season): This is the best time to witness the Great Migration river crossings at the Grumeti and Mara Rivers. Wildlife viewing is excellent as animals congregate around water sources. The weather is cooler and drier, making game drives more comfortable.
December to March (Short Dry Season): The southern plains come alive with the calving season. Hundreds of thousands of wildebeest give birth, attracting predators. This period offers incredible wildlife interactions and photography opportunities.
April to May (Long Rains): The low season offers fewer crowds and lush, green landscapes. While some roads may be challenging, wildlife viewing remains good, and accommodation rates are lower.
