About Selous Game Reserve
Selous Game Reserve (now part of Nyerere National Park) is Africa's largest protected wildlife reserve, covering over 50,000 square kilometers in southern Tanzania. This UNESCO World Heritage Site offers a true wilderness experience away from the crowds.
The reserve is famous for its diverse landscapes—from dense woodlands and open grasslands to rocky outcrops and river systems. The mighty Rufiji River, Tanzania's largest, flows through the reserve, creating unique boat safari opportunities.

Home to large populations of elephants, buffalo, hippos, and crocodiles, Selous is also one of the last strongholds for the endangered African wild dog. The reserve supports over 440 bird species, making it a paradise for bird enthusiasts.
The remote nature of Selous ensures an exclusive safari experience with walking safaris, boat safaris, and traditional game drives—all fully accessible with our sign language interpretation and visual communication.

January to March: Another good period with hot weather and great game viewing. The landscape is drier, making wildlife easier to spot. Perfect for photography with dramatic skies.
April, May, November (Green Season): Lower visitor numbers and lush landscapes. Some camps close during heavy rains (April-May), but November offers excellent value with beautiful scenery and good wildlife viewing.
